Who We Are

Brookings Area Camp Adventure is a day camp experience for individuals with disabilities. Camp Adventure is a non-profit organization fiscally represented by Brookings Interagency Council and is funded in part by the Brookings Area United Way. Additional funding comes from Brookings area businesses, organizations, individuals and camper fees.

How You Can Help

Brookings Camp Adventure relies on generous help from community businesses and individuals to donate time, supplies, meals, snacks, drinks, and monetary funds to make Camp Adventure a success.

Everything You Wanted to Know about Camp

Who Can Attend?

Any person between the ages of 6-21 who has: 

  • A physical disability

  • A sensory or neurological impairment and/or 

  • A communication disorder

What will we do at camp? 

  1. Adjust as a member of a group, to be accepted, to share, and to learn how to give and take from group experiences,

  2. learn responsibility

  3. develop an appreciation for the outdoors

  4. have new experiences and learn new skills

  5. be recognized for one's achievements

  6. gain self-confidence and a degree of independence,

  7. promote emotional and social growth by acquiring socialization by interacting with peers and counselors

  8. learn concepts of courtesy, cooperation, honesty, and dependability,

  9. learn to control our emotions,

  10. and learn and display responsible and appropriate behavior.

How do you apply for camp?

An application can be obtained by emailing Camp Director Mahyle Hausman at brookings_campadventure@yahoo.com or printing an application from the "Apply" page. There you will find a form to print off and fill out. Please mail this completed form to:

What does it cost? 

 Camp Adventure asks for a $80 fee per camper to help cover camp expenses. This fee covers all transportation during the camp day, entrance fees for field trips, daily lunch, and snacks, & all arts and craft activities. Campers will not be denied the opportunity to participate based on the ability to pay the camp fee. If unable to pay the $80 fee, Camp Adventure asks that families contact one of the following agencies/organizations to help alleviate the cost. A late registration fee will be applied if the application is received after the deadline.
